Abnormal is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead Security & Privacy as a foundational platform capability across their Multi-Product Platform division. You'll own the end-to-end delivery of large-scale security and privacy initiatives, shape the two-year technical roadmap in collaboration with engineering and product teams, and mentor emerging Tech Leads while maintaining the organization's technical standards. This role is ideal for a distributed systems architect with 8+ years of experience who has partnered with security teams to build secure-by-default solutions at scale. You should excel at deconstructing ambiguous problems into clear milestones, translating business requirements into executable roadmaps, and driving complex cross-functional projects from concept to production. Proficiency in Golang and Python is required, along with hands-on product security experience and a CS or related engineering degree. The position offers a remote work arrangement across the USA with a base salary range of $210,400–$302,500, plus potential bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Experience spanning infrastructure, data platforms, machine learning, or open-source contributions would strengthen your candidacy.
