Abnormal
Abnormal AI is building out its Federal Platform Engineering team to architect and maintain the infrastructure layer powering its FedRAMP High GovCloud environment. In this role, you'll design reusable Terraform modules and cloud patterns that reduce drift between the government and commercial platforms, making it easier for federal operations teams to deploy and manage workloads safely and repeatably. You'll also raise the operational bar through improved monitoring, documentation, and incident response while mentoring engineers on platform best practices and AI-assisted workflows. This position suits experienced cloud engineers with 7+ years shipping production AWS infrastructure, strong hands-on Terraform skills, and Kubernetes expertise. You should have navigated compliance frameworks like FedRAMP or SOC 2, feel comfortable reading and writing automation scripts in Python or Go, and actively leverage AI tools in your engineering work. US citizenship or permanent residency is required for GovCloud access. Remote, US-based role offering $179,800–$258,500 base salary plus potential bonus, equity, and benefits. Experience directly implementing FedRAMP, building developer enablement platforms, or using LLMs in production contexts is a bonus.

Abnormal AI is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Platform Engineering to help build the Federal Platform layer underpinning our GovCloud environment. This is a platform infrastructure role first: you will design and evolve the core infrastructure, deployment foundations, and platform patterns that make GovCloud behave more like a thin extension of our commercial platform, with less drift and stronger operational leverage over time. As the first engineer focused on Federal Platform, you will help define the charter for the team, provide mentorship and guidance on platform-oriented topics in the GovCloud environment, and build the paved roads that make Federal Operations and application teams more self-sufficient as we scale the federal business.
