2K

Senior Animation Engineer

Brighton, England, United Kingdom

About the role

This permanent role at 2K in Brighton involves developing and maintaining core animation systems within Unreal Engine 5. You'll prototype and implement animation features like graphs, state machines, and blending systems while building tools and pipelines that enable animators and technical artists to work more effectively. Close collaboration with animation, art, design, and engineering teams is essential to realize the creative vision for character animation across AAA game titles. The ideal candidate has shipped at least one AAA game, ideally on Unreal Engine, with advanced C++ proficiency and deep knowledge of 3D mathematics and object-oriented design. You'll need hands-on experience with Unreal's animation systems (Animation Blueprints, state machines, blend spaces) and practical implementation background in areas like inverse kinematics, ragdoll physics, procedural animation, or keyframe animation. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines are critical. This position reports to a lead engineer and offers opportunities to deepen expertise in cutting-edge animation technology. Experience with machine learning-driven animation techniques, Control Rig, IK Rig, Motion Warping, or next-gen console development (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S) would strengthen your candidacy. The role is also available in Brno or Prague if you prefer those locations.
