About the role

Visual Concepts' Shanghai studio seeks an Associate C++ Engineer to join their game development team. You'll work alongside designers, artists, and fellow engineers to write and debug code for AAA titles, learning complex systems while contributing to live games. Your responsibilities include crafting clean and well-documented code, collaborating across departments to implement features correctly, and building or optimizing development tools and editors. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and has up to three years of experience—recent graduates with strong fundamentals are encouraged to apply. You should be comfortable with C++ and ideally bring experience in tool development or graphics rendering. Beyond technical skills, you'll need solid problem-solving abilities to tackle medium-complexity challenges, plus strong communication and a collaborative mindset. This is a full-time position based in Shanghai, China, reporting to the Lead Engineer at one of the world's premier game development studios with a track record of shipping over 100 acclaimed titles.

What We Need

Our Visual Concepts studio in Shanghai is looking for an Associate C++ Engineer to work closely with designers, artists, and other engineers. In this role, you will assist the team with code writing and bug fixing for AAA games, reporting directly to our Lead Engineer.

What You Will Do

  • Learn and master complex code systems
  • Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and robust code
  • Collaborate with design and art teams to ensure game features align with requirements
  • Develop and optimize tools and editors

Who Will Be A Great Fit

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field
  • Experience: 0–3 years of experience (excellent fresh graduates are welcome to apply)
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of C++ programming; experience in tool development or rendering is preferred
  • Problem Solving: Good logical thinking skills, with the ability to resolve simple-to-medium technical issues independently

Soft Skills: Strong communication, a sense of responsibility, and a collaborative teamwork spirit
