2K
Small Axe Studios, 2K's newly founded Vancouver-based studio, is seeking an Expert Lighting Artist to shape the visual atmosphere of an upcoming sports franchise. You'll partner with the Lead Lighting Artist and Art Director to design and implement real-time lighting in Unreal Engine, translating concept art and mood boards into cinematic, immersive environments. Your work will balance artistic vision with technical performance, ensuring lighting serves narrative and gameplay while maintaining visual consistency across in-game sequences, cinematics, and marketing assets. This role suits experienced lighting professionals who understand light as a storytelling device, not merely a technical necessity. You should have shipped at least one AAA title, demonstrate mastery of Unreal's real-time lighting systems, and bring deep knowledge of color theory, light behavior, and physical camera principles like exposure and luminance. Strong collaboration skills and the ability to communicate clearly with rendering engineers, environment artists, and cinematics teams are essential. Based in Burnaby, British Columbia, this is a full-time position offering a salary range of CAD $96,400–$142,660 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. A portfolio showcasing your range and storytelling through light is required.
