AEVEX is seeking an Air Vehicle Operator 2 to serve as Pilot in Command for unmanned aircraft systems supporting Department of Defense customers at the national, theater, and operational levels. This deployed position involves comprehensive oversight of ground and flight operations, including mission planning, execution, crew resource management, and safety protocols. The operator will manage all phases of aircraft tasking from preflight through post-flight and monitor system vitals while ensuring safe and legal flight operations. The role also includes developing training programs, lesson plans, and educational materials for assigned personnel. This opportunity suits experienced aviators with significant UAS background and prior deployed operations experience. Candidates need a minimum of 100+ pilot-in-command flight hours on unmanned platforms, 500-1,000 manned aviation hours, and 2-4 years of relative UAS operations experience. An FAA Private Pilot License with Instrument rating, current Class II Medical Certificate, and active DoD Secret Security Clearance (or higher) are required. US citizenship, a valid passport, and the ability to meet combatant command theater entry requirements round out the essential qualifications. This is a full-time position requiring relocation to a CONUS duty location with deployment to overseas locations. Candidates must be willing to work extended hours, pass a Combat Readiness Course, and maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe applications.
