# Staff Data Scientist, Sales Analytics at 10x Genomics

10x Genomics, a leader in high-complexity genomics instrumentation, is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to establish and lead their sales analytics function. You'll report directly to the Head of Business Insights & Analytics in this newly created role designed to scale the team's machine learning capabilities as the company grows globally.

Your first-year priorities center on three major initiatives: migrating from spreadsheet-based sales forecasting to production ML pipelines, redesigning territory frameworks to account for differences between academic and pharma customer segments, and building early-warning models that surface churn risk, stalled deals, and expansion opportunities before field teams see them. This means owning end-to-end model development—from feature engineering in Snowflake through AWS deployment—while creating actionable signals that turn reactive account management into proactive intervention. You'll also conduct deep commercial analyses on quota attainment and account health, develop price elasticity models that inform discounting guardrails, and establish monitoring frameworks that integrate directly into Salesforce workflows.

This role suits experienced data scientists comfortable with ambiguity who can translate business questions into analytical frameworks and communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders. You'll work across Salesforce, ERP systems, instrument telemetry, and field data to develop predictive features. The position is based in Pleasanton, California, and includes mentorship responsibilities for junior analysts. A master's degree in a quantitative discipline is required.
