# Controller at Afresh

Afresh is seeking a Controller to lead accounting operations for the AI-powered grocery platform that works with major retailers like Albertsons and Meijer. You'll report to the VP of Strategy & Finance and own the full accounting function—from month-end close and financial reporting to revenue recognition and audit management—while building and mentoring a small team of 1–3 accounting professionals.

This is a "player-coach" role where you'll modernize how the accounting department operates. The expectation is that you'll actively implement AI and automation across the close process, accounts payable and receivable, expense workflows, and variance analysis to compress timelines, reduce manual work, and strengthen controls. You'll also drive revenue recognition under ASC 606, manage payroll and tax compliance, handle treasury and cash management, and partner across finance, people, legal, and business functions to support strategic decision-making.

This position suits someone with 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in high-growth SaaS or technology, who holds or is pursuing a CPA. You should be equally comfortable designing scalable processes and evaluating modern accounting tools. The role is remote across the United States.
